[ alive isn't exactly the word she would use, if she was being honest. she is better now than she was when she first woke, of course, but she cannot honestly call herself alive. ]

I am still breathing, if that is what we are going to classify as alive. I have spent most of the day in bed nursing a pain most foul.

I can't say I ever have...

Before I arrived I didn't ever think to partake in alcohol like that. I was in a position where I could not risk losing myself like that.

I was once in a similar position myself.

I am glad I do not have to stand upon that dreadful stage any longer.

Were it so simple as keeping up appearances I might have let loose sooner, but my position was more complicated than just that.

I imagine your position was much more...precarious than mine, but I know what it's like to serve as an icon for the people. As much as you help, it hurts you in return.

Thank you but I think I am fine now. I have a lot of time to think and arriving here has really helped.

Instead of being trapped by my past I want to embrace this newfound freedom of mine. Even if said freedom leads me to doing something as unwise as last night.

That's a wonderful mindset to have.

Of all my decisions, I think the "unwise" ones were the ones I regretted the least. At least, once the next morning had passed.
